Credentialing Services

Starting your own practice and planning to accept insurance?  Credentialing (sometimes called paneling) is the process of applying and becoming approved to contract with different health insurance companies to provide mental health services.  With several years of experience billing and credentialing for Oria Counseling, Michaela is now offering this service to outside providers who want to avoid the stress, hassle, and guesswork of working with insurance.
 
Credentialing can take 2-6 months to process after the initial application is sent; it's important to start early if you're considering billing insurance.  Private insurance companies have different requirements than larger public organizations like Medicare, which can extend the length of time before the credentialing application is approved.

Cost of this service is based on the number of applications sent, and will be agreed upon prior to the application process.  Private insurance companies start at $100 per application, while public organizations like MassHealth and Medicare start at $250.

Steps include:

• Determine which insurance companies you are seeking to be credentialed with. A list of organizations common to Massachusetts (with a price list) will be provided. 

• Agreeing on cost total of service, signing a service contract, and completing payment.

• filling out requested information and collecting necessary documentation that insurance companies request

• Applications are completed and sent on your behalf.  ​

• Communication and follow up as required until contracts are approved
